st. patrick's day rainbow cloud & clover macarons

are you a multi-tasker?
or can you do one thing at once?
like when you talk on the phone do you just talk on the phone?
or when you watch tv do you just watch tv?

i sure don't.
my arms are going this way and that, while my brain is going full speed ahead and i get fidgety when i know there is something else that i can be doing at the time and can't do it.

don't get me wrong, it's not an A.D.D. thing,
it's just a thing where i am trying to be more efficient so i can have time to rest do other things i guess.
what a dumb vicious cycle.

so it happens one day where i was multi-tasking again which included helping my son with his math homework, listening to my daughter's high school drama, cooking dinner, and making these all happened.

making what you say?
making macarons.
and rainbow ones at that.
i used this recipe as i have done so in the past knowing full well one should not be multi-tasking when you make macarons like when i made it here and here.
i mean these guys are high maintenance that require your fullest attention!
that is, if you want them to turn out right.

but i went about multi-tasking anyway and came up with this:
hey mom how do you find the volume of a rectangle again?
* * *
hey mom, you'll never believe what so and so did at school today.
* * *
hey dear, what's for dinner?
(my hubby just walks in)

sigh.
no worries about the bottom of the rainbow looking wonky cuz you'll cover 'em up when you do this:
so since i didn't measure when i divided the macaron mix,
i ran out of a few colors.

and so my multi-tasking brain went to work again.
hey what the heck?!
i wasn't even going for clovers at the time, i was just going to make funky designs for mardi gras since i had these colors left not knowing at the time that mardi gras had already passed and so the clover just kinda happened.

and i didn't use a circle template for these either-did you guess?
:>P

hey mom if billy spends $5.80 a day on lunch per week and then decides to pack a lunch instead which costs $1.74 a day how much money does he actually save a week?
* * *
hey mom did you wash my jeans yet?
* * *
hey dear did you pay the electric bill this month?

sigh.
i had no idea if the macarons were gonna turn out. they were sitting out for a half hr. versus the 10-15 minutes that they should have sat out.
have you ever said a cookie prayer?
i have many a times...

i said it a coupla times actually.

right after i said "good-bye" to my cookies when i stuck them in the oven.
i need to work on my faith...lol

so when the timer went off, i opened the oven with my eyes closed.
eureka!
how the heck did that happen?

or...
brown clouds?
cracked rainbow?
flat cookies?
i think this must've happened between trying to find out if billy paid the electric bill at lunch and if his mom washed his jeans.

but it worked for 6 of the cookies!
so let's do something with those! like make a buttercream filling and line them with gold!
ooo!
yes gooooooold!!!

ok so it's a plate of gold.

so what if i burned the other 90%.
3's always a good number.
maybe i should'of made all of them blobs seeing the blobs came out...
but i did make a couple little macarons too.
i think the hearts made up for the overcooked ones don't you?
at least they covered them up enough for the picture!

dang i need some irish luck.
well at least you're my pot of gold friend.

so i'm good.

hey mom can you show me how to add 7 and 3 5/12? * hey mom do you think you could get me some more makeup tonite? * hey dear do you know where i put my wallet?
* * * * * *

  1. No wonder I'm such a big fan of this place! I can't sit still with only one thing going on either! I feel sorry for all the "normal" people who have to live with us! But then, when they come home to a plate of these little jewels on St. Patrick's Day (while everyone else they know is handed a plastic piece of dollar store junk - if anything!) then they appreciate what they have!
    So, how many hours did Billy's mom spend on showing him how clever she is???

  6. Lisa,
    These are adorable! I hear you about your brain not being able to shut down. That is me to at T. I'm constantly multitasking. Usually it gets to a point of complete insanity, and then I need to walk away and take it easy. Either that or I get some terrible cold, and I'm forced to slow it down!
    I love the macarons. The rainbows, clovers, and hearts are all amazing. Love 'em!

  8. Your rainbows look good to me :) It is a very rare time that most moms are not multi-tasking! Too much to do ... never enough time! Sometimes the cookies pay the price, lol!

    In my case, sometimes my "multi-tasking" may be ADD ... I'm guilty of starting too many projects at the same time ;)

    1. HAHA you sound like my hubby! and i'm the one who goes around and finishes all those projects! LOL i guess that adds to my multitasking but i think it's still pretty sad that cookies have to pay the price :>O oh well i guess that means we have to make more cookies to get it right right Brenda? heehee uh oh more to do again!
