"happy everything" straw letter garland

well, it's no news that when something cool happens,
there is usually some kinda sequel.

and we all know summer is the time for sequels.

and that sequel gets another sequel.
and sometimes another and another.

just ask harry p. and shrek.
i'm sure you know them.

so speaking of sequels, this is kinda sorta likea one from the straw post i did for the happy 4th holiday we had a few days ago.

but truth be told, i had this idea first and the 4th holiday post just kinda happened.

so this is not really the sequel, it's more like the original to the sequel and now that i am thoroughly confused and have you thoroughly confused, let's see what all my jibjab's about ok?

here goes.
i raided marshall's, homegoods, tj maxx, shop sweet lulu, pick your plum, the plaid barn, kara's party shoppe, michael's, jo ann fabric's, my local grocery store, my neighbor's closet, and my mechanic's wife's sister's stash the past year to get this collection.

(just kidding. just seeing if you were paying attention...)

but this will work with even one kinda straw if you don't have a mechanic with a wife's sister to raid.
(lucky you with a nice working car!)

you basically figure out your saying and make letters outta the straws. i have too many so i used different colors for one letter. just to justify my straw hoarderness (new word).

i didn't measure the letters. i just cut them in all crazy sizes to make the letters more interesting.

and i made the letters small cuz i am hanging this in my craft room over the big cork board i have.
you can make them using the whole straw too for huge letters or even teeny tiny if you are having a party for a fairy.

...?!?!...
let's move on.

i know i know it may sound corny but it's true!

so make this garland for yourself or for someone special in your life on their birthday, or when you wanna congratulate them or tell them merry merry or whatever.
you can make it say anything you want :)

just a thought though, if you take a picture of it, know that it will be a complete and total pain to get a good one unless you have some sort of paparazzi lens that can get all twisted and stuff to zoom in.

as you can see, i don't have such lens capabilities so this pic will have to do for now.
anywho,
just know that
happy everything
pretty much sums it up.

betcha they'll want a sequel.

  1. Lisa, don't worry your pretty little head off about the photos! We get it! It's fabulous! Love the new craze for straws and can't buy them fast enough! Glad I can come here for ideas of what to do with them!...but sadly, I will not be making this design - for six (6) reasons! CATS! Yes, we have 6 of them and this garland wouldn't last a minute - no matter how high I hung it up! Boo hoo - I'll wait for another idea from you! (And I know you'll eventually have one!)
