"it's what's INSIDE that counts" tote bag

are you a sewer?
i'm not a sewer.

i just love all those cute little sewing projects i see in blogland but i am certainly not a sewer.

i remember back in middle school home ec class, we had to sew a potholder and mine looked like it sat out in the sun all day and wrinkled up because i always sew the seams too tight or something so that it wouldn't lay flat.

well apparently i still have that same sewing deficiency as you can see here:
luckily i didn't have to sew too much when i made this.
look, check it out.
i originally did do some sewing on this bag and then when it scared me on how it looked, i pulled the thread out and chose to do the easy way instead.
but first things first.

i used this printable which you can too and adjust the size to your liking by right clicking, save, and print your size to fit your bag.
the original mason jar source can be found HERE.
you can choose to leave the quote out but i did it that way so i could better eyeball the placement.
i then just hand wrote it myself on the bag with the black sharpie as well as add the lid details.

next up:
hooray for hot glue=save me from using needle and thread!

let's add some detail.
uh oh!
looks like i did use a needle and thread for the quote after all to make the letters stand out.

please don't laugh at me when you see the imperfections...ugh.
well..let's just move on shall we?

and that my friends, is how my $3 target tote bag came to be.
now i wish i could just get past the wonky letters so i can actually use it.
oh yeah!
smiley's right.
so now i'm off to filling my bag with goodies like cookies and cupcakes and markers and and perhaps a book about
how to sew...?!

    1. not a sewer? oh i'm in good company then Cookie Puzzle! :) my first idea was to make it on canvas but then washing it would be a problem and sewing all those beads would be a pain. then target came to my rescue when i spotted the straw bags i knew that would work cuz who washes a straw bag? certainly not i! LOL ;)
