basketball in a net cookie truffle pops

wanna know sumthin'?
this blogging has eaten up part of my brain that i no longer think like i used to.

look, i'm not complaining but,
i mean, i can't even eat an apple without my mind wandering elsewhere and coming up with this next treat.
yeah. i innocently went to the grocery and actually got something healthy to eat and the idea hit me.

"no, no they don't!"
said the holy thing wearing a halo on my right shoulder dressed in white.

"yes they dooooo!"
said the ornery red thing with the 2 points on his head on my left shoulder.

"no they don't! they are the apple bag so the apples can breathe and that is that."
reasoned the white thing.

"you can do it Lisa! make them hoops!"
the red thing taunted.

"no you can't! you already have enough to do! you better do the laundry girlfriend or you won't have any clean underwear left." cautioned the white thing.

"underwear? who needs underwear?"
teased the red thing.

and as my head turned from shoulder to shoulder trying to think things thru,
before i knew it i was in the kitchen.

making basketball hoops for crying out loud.
and in the middle of the insanity, my hubby passes by, looks at the hoops, takes another look at the hoops,
and doesn't say a word.

he walks away shaking his head.

i figure he caught the dazed look in my eye, y'know,
the kind that a possessed soul has,
and knew not to mess with me.

so after hours and hours playing with apple netting and being under the awful spell,
i finished them.

it only took me 5 1/2 hours, it was 1:30 in the morning, and i looked like this when i was done.
source
ok so not so much the snowy part seeing i do live in the sunshine state but,
well, you get the point.
:>P
so...
because i do NOT want you to go thru the insanity i went thru, do this instead.
first make some cookie truffles.
just crush a box of shortbread cookies of your choice with a block of softened cream cheese and mix together.
roll in balls, stick a lollipop stick dipped in melted orange candy melt in each cookie truffle, freeze until firm, dip in orange candy melt and decorate with a black food marker.
or if you want another recipe,
pick anyone you want.

easy right?
ahem.

let's make the hoops but not like what i showed you above.

these steps are much more sensible!
cut up your apple bag in small rectangles.
(i didn't measure)

and you are done.

it is amazing how simple things can be and i can make it so utterly complicated.
so here's another :>P to me!

anyway, then the true test came.

i went to my son, not saying a word, and showed him the basketball treats.

and he said,

"O! EM! GEE! MOM!
THOSE ARE AWESOME!!!!
I LOVE THEM!!!! THEY'RE LIKE CRAZY COOL! OH MY GOSH! I LOVE THEM!"
and i stood there with my mouth hanging open,  and my aching back, my sore eyeballs and my twisted conscience.
and i smiled.

i think i got the red and white things mixed up.

so if it takes me 5 1/2 hours the next time to make a treat, when it can take me a little more than an hour to do it, but instead i am too insane to figure it out til the next day,
then so be it.

the work's worth fighting for.
