peanut butter fudge pie cookies

teeny tiny servings of "pie".
i think i may get people to eat these after all this year...?!

why do i say that?
because
you got it.

the tons of ingredients to make those thanksgiving desserts.
the ones that ripped a hole in your cheap plastic bag with that extra large can of pumpkin that almost crushed your big toe when it landed on the sidewalk and got all dented.
you got the heirloom recipes.
the ones with the dog-eared corners, yellow tinge color and smell of mothballs.
you got your hubby to watch the kids so you can work with no disturbance in the kitchen.
"turn on the macy's day parade and let them sit and watch it for the next 17 hours. they'll be fine." you say.
then you get your very best dishes out,
dust those off, place that decadent dessert on the plate, and then carefully, carefully bring it over to the table.
you stand back and look at it.
oh you are so proud!
then you hear it.
the dreaded,
"OH I CAN'T TAKE ONE MORE BITE!"
"OH IF I EAT ANYMORE I'LL BURST!"
"OH I THINK I'LL SKIP DESSERT-I HAD TOO MUCH GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE!"

ugh.
it happens every year.

i'm in charge of desserts for my family and extended family. and they should know better than to pick me, as i cannot make a measly pumpkin pie and call it a day.

nooooooo-i gotta make decadent desserts and fancy them all up with labels and sprinkles and fall leaf decor crust.

only to have them say,
"OH YOU DID SUCH A BEAUTIFUL JOB BUT I'M ON A DIET AND CAN'T EAT ANY!"
it happens every year...

don't you just love traditions?

  4. Oh, I totally know what you are talking about. I too spend hours, or even days making desserts, only to have many people pass for being too full or on a diet. It used to really hurt my feelings, but now I know it's going to happen and expect it. I personally could skip the turkey, mashed potatoes, etc, and dive straight into the desserts. Your cookies are adorable and are just the right size to serve after such a big meal.

    1. it's crazy knowing that isn't it Beth? but we can't help ourselves! LOL my family does eat it eventually, so i was thinking i should just make them for the next day-ha either that or eat them all by myself instead of the mashed potatoes! i've seen your food creations and i honestly don't blame them for not eating them right away only cuz they are just so amazing to look at! have a wonder full thanksgiving!

  7. Just make fruit compote instead. Cook the fruit they don't eat for meals in the upcoming week. Perfect. Nothing goes to waste, including non of your time.

Thanks for participating in our party, Lisa! Love having you around.

    1. well Rose, they do eat it, just not til the next day so it doesn't go to waste and i actually don't mind! but making fruit compote would definitely be different, especially since i have no idea what that is! LOL
