12 days of bloggy christmas/day 9: christmas gingerbread birdhouses on stands

hey are you ready for day 9?!
let's continue on with the

  The Ruffled Stitch  photo button_zps47f31b59.jpg
brought to you courtesy of all 4 blogs above thanks to the efforts of
KRISTA from A Handful of Everything!

 here we go!
are you a gingerbread house maker?
do you mix the dough,
roll it,
cut the house shapes up,
allow them to cool?
frost them together to make the house?
go to the store to get gumdrops, candy canes, peppermints, sprinkles, chocolate, sixlets,
etc etc etc.,
then display it for all to see?

then shoo all children away from it,
young and old,
telling them santa will add them to the naughty list if he sees them anywhere near the house nibbling on the roof?

then on december 26th, what do you do?
throw it away?

oh the horror of it all!
all those hours and hours of work down the tube.

believe me, been there.
done that.

but i wanna keep those suckers!
it's SO beautiful to throw away but lordy knows you can't keep an edible house without having the mold come by for a permanent visit!

so what to do!?!?

do the following.
when i saw the birdhouses on stands at jo ann fabric's,
they screamed gingerbread houses to me.

so i went to town.

christmas target straws=permanent non-molding candy canes
gotta LOOOOVE that E-6000!

it adheres the candies super easily, gives you leeway to fix the candies, and dries clear.
so don't use the hot glue gun unless you want third degree burns when you go to glue the sprinkles...

i got the snow drape from dollar tree.

ready for house #1?

ugh.
i gotta add "new camera" on that christmas wish list...
and now for house #2.

and finally, house #3.

hooray!
houses i can stare at and keep til eternity or when i am a starving artist and need food and don't care if it's glue covered or not.

and hey look!
it's snowing!

hey wait a sec, is that reindeer i see?
OH! I THINK SANTA'S COMING!!!!!

yippee!
Santa's here!
what's he gonna deliver?

a new toy?
some cool clothes?
pretty jewelry?
my new camera?!?!?!
dang, so much for a sugar rush...
think i'll just go nibble off the roof of my neighbor's gingerbread house instead.

come follow these boards for lots more fun!

  1. These are PRECIOUS! Seriously, most blogs just rehash the same old ideas over and over again - you come up with things that are cute and so refreshingly ORIGINAL! My granddaughters will someday make these with me. Not yet, though - they are 4, 2 and 1 years old!
