ever come up with something
only to find out it was already there?
it happened when the idea to make these treats came to me upon awakening one morning and i was so excited to get started on them.
i always like to challenge myself to think up new ideas that are fresh on this blog.
but for these i made them first without doing the usual google search. so when i thought of this idea and found that it really wasn't my original idea my heart sank a little.
but Sandra's cookies and talent are so impressionable and genius to me they are now lodged in my conscious and subconscious mind, and it just takes this old brain to realize that this idea was really her original idea when i saw and commented on her post last year.
i just (oopsies) kinda forgot it was already out there. looks like i read waaaay too many blogs with waaaaay too many things i wanna make.
anyway, i wasn't gonna post these but i obviously changed my mind. at least they are a slightly different idea to the original and i made them in only 1/2 hour.
here goes:
i flipped the cookies out of the whoopie pie pan onto a cookie sheet then i flipped them again onto another cookie sheet.
while they are still warm, cut them in half.
if you want a lot of ground beef (aka chocolate) place another kiss on the other side too immediately upon flipping them as shown then spread after the kisses soften to get "double meat".
i wanted the back of the cookie to be shown on the outside for more uniformity to resemble tacos which is why i flipped the cookies twice.
(i sure hope you understand what i just said!)
whoa! it's a walking talking taco!
and there you have the unoriginal but kinda original peanut butter taco cookie.
treats for the upcoming cinco de mayo celebration coming up next Monday.
i know peanut butter and chocolate doesn't really sound appetizing when you are talking tacos but i wanted some chocolate in there somewhere and wanted to make these in a hurry.
so,
peanut butter ready made mix with chocolate hershey kisses and sprinkle taco cookies
should really be the title for these cookies but we'll just stick to my unoriginal idea and call it a day.
The same thing happens to me all the time. There are so many amazing food crafts on the internet now that it's really hard to come up with an original idea. You do manage to be totally original most of the time, and doing something a bit different than someone else has already done, and giving them credit it is a perfect solution. Sandra is wonderfully talented, as are you, and us food crafters feed off of each other's creativity. Your taco cookies are great and would be the perfect treat for Cinco de Mayo. I'm glad you shared them.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness Beth! i don't think there is any other food crafter out there who works harder than you or is as gifted and when i see a new post form you i get giddy with excitement! it is quite comforting seeing that i think and create in the company of such great peeps like you and Sandra-no matter where the ideas come form, it's all about sharing and i'm SOOOO happy i can share it with you! :>D
DeleteWell, I for one...and maybe the only one....have never seen anything like this!!!!!!!!! Chocolate and peanut butter ANYTHING is good! I now need one of those pans. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to build an addition to my kitchen to hold all the interesting things you come up with!!!! On a personal note....I'm leaving for Colorado again on Thursday...be gone a week. Brother is not doing well...time is short. Catch you when I get back! From your devoted BBFF, Dona
ReplyDeleteoh no! your brother is in my prayers as you and your family are too! XOXO
Deletei will be here when you come back and will try not to overstock your kitchen addition but can't make any promises! lol take good care my BBFF! <3
Well these are adorable and since they have YOUR personal touch, I am going with this recipe! Our family carnival is coming up in late July and I'd planned a cupcake stand with those popcorn cupcakes (mini-marshmallows) and some hamburger ones and the ones that look like little Sundaes. I think these little tacos are begging to hop on the dessert tray too! And for the record, I've never seen 'em before!
ReplyDeletea cupcake stand with all those treats? girl do you ever stop creating awesomeness? i hear a "NO" and i must say i am quite glad! if you ever need a food craft that is out of this world original, Sandra does not disappoint. thank you again for liking my tacos! i say Ole! with a big happy grin to you J! :>D
DeleteHey Lisa….I'm so glad you shared these! I love seeing how other baker's brains work - especially yours. You're crazy creative and this is a fantastic version of a taco cookie. What a great combination too - peanut butter & chocolate. You inspire me, daily. (PS. Thanks for the original kitchen credit, you're sweet. In more ways than one!)
ReplyDeleteGAHHH! YOU are HERE?!? oh you have NO idea how much you wanna make me do the happy dance Sandra!!!! i bow to all of your creativeness and nearly fainted when you say i inspire you!?! and all the compliments-talk about a sweetie! now if you don't mind i gotta go do another happy dance...;)
DeleteI just found a new way to love tacos!! :)
ReplyDeleteand i just found another reason to luv ya Kim! :>D
DeletePeanut butter + chocolate = tacos??? The best tacos EVER :)
ReplyDeleteyou + your sweetness=one HUGE smiley THANK YOU Brenda!!! :>D
DeleteIt seems to me that no idea is completely, 100% "original" anymore with the millions of blogs out there. It's frustrating as a blogger, because sometimes I think I'm just so genius and then Google to find out that someone else had the same idea first, making them more genius, lol. I guess great minds think alike, or something. :) I think when you change it up a little and link back to the original post that is perfectly acceptable.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, these are just too fun, and I love your touches on the idea. Pinning!
HAHA! i feel your pain Apples to Applique! i try to think it's best knowing there are a lot of geniuses out there instead of dummies! heehee and it's good you have a great mind that comes up with stuff! i think we are in good company :) thank you thank you thank you SOOO much for the pin and stopping by and commenting! hope you come back again! have a sweet day! :>D
